Is this a good resignation letter?
i'm about to leave McDonald's, and my manager requested a resignation letter with reasons why i am leaving. ------ 02-08-2008 Dear (Manager), Please accept this letter as confirmation of my resignation from (Company), effective August 16, 2008. This was not an easy decision to make, but a change in my housing arrangements has rendered this particular McDonald's restaurant no longer convenient for me to reach. I also believe changing to work near my family members will be of greater benefit to them. Thank you for the support and encouragement you have offered during my time at McDonald's (Location). Yours sincerely, (My name). ------ anything i need to add/leave out? thanks!

- Having given and received these over 25 years.... nay nay nay. Simple, straight, and done. A resignation letter is a formal letter for HR records of your intent to self-terminate your employment. Anything beyond that should be spoken, not written. So.... 8/1/08 Dear Manager, This letter is to inform you of my intent to resign from xyz company on 8/15/08. I appreciate the opportunity I've had to work for xy company and thank you for your support. Sincerely Yours, Johnny Come Lately CC: Human Resources That simple. If you want to explain your reasoning, tell the manager when you give them the letter. It's better because that way you don't have to sit while they read the letter and if you hand them the letter saying something like, "Thanks for seeing me Linda, unfortunately, this is my letter of resignation"... then she won't look at it and instead you can actually have a conversation. That keeps it human, professional, and respectful. Hope that helps. Take Care
