What can I write in a resignation letter to employer?

I only worked at this job once and was recently offered a better offer by another company, which i intend to take. I am thinking about sending an email to the boss (i rather not make a call). I am not sure what to write, since it has been such a short employment. He is a very nice guy and I feel very bad telling him that i have to quit. He waited about 2.5 weeks for me to finally start working. It just happened to be that right after my first day of work i received a better offer......

write that for some personal reasons u wud not be able to continue any longer and write the effective date from which u wish to relinquish.

Apologize for the inconvenience of hiring and training you for no real purpose. Point out that the experience was a positive one for you but that you cannot afford (financially or emotionally doesn't matter) to refuse the other offer. Make the call, even if you don't want to. You don't have to go into detail on the phone but it is more personal and you can be sure the boss gets the message right away. Not everyone always gets a chance to check their email first thing in the morning.

okay it sounds like you want this to be mostly professional. here are some ideas for you. 1. tell them why 2. tell them thanks (it sounds wierd but its not a bad touch) 3. if u want it to be professional print it out fold it nice and put it in an envelope, and hand it to your boss. an email is tacky and unprofessional no matter the nature of the business. best of luck on the new job =D
As an Employment Counselor, your resignation letter should state the date of your departure and that you have found a new position that closely matches your career needs. Thank them for the opportunities and experience you acquired. Say nothing of any bad experiences. You don't want to burn your bridges. Make it short and simple. Sign it and make a copy for your records.
google resignation letter, and you'll find plenty of samples. just copy one, and edit it appropriately. don't apologize! just tell them you've found another job where you'll be able to exercise your skills and learn more. thank them for all the training and experiences they taught you. don't forget. get recommendation letters!
