Do i automatically give up vacation time if I give resignation letter before my anniversary at my current job?

I am entitled to 1 week paid vacation after Nov. 20th. If I give my resignation letter before then, do I lose my vacation time? I start my new job on Dec 10th. I live in New Jersey.

1. Why not give it after? That would still be 2 weeks notice I believe.
2. Depends on your company and your contract. Ask your HR person or do what the 1st guy said and wait til the 20th.
3. Read your employee handbook about vacation time and how it is pro-rated if you leave the company early. Sounds like you should wait until November 21st to give notice, and have your last day of work be Friday December 7th so you can get paid.
