- If you are studying at degree level you should not need help with such a letter!
- I would say what you just said to us, and expound on that. Your own feelings and thoughts, edited a bit, are better than any canned letter could ever be.
- Here is a link to some sample letters. http://jobsearch.about.com/od/resignationletters/a/resignationlet.htm Just add in what you would like to say about your experience or your employer and your fellow employees. http://jobsearchtech.about.com/od/resignationletter/Resignation_Letters.htm
- Whatever you do, put everything through the grammar and spell checker. You should never put I in small letter when referring to yourself. Paragraph 1 I am resigning my position because I am going to (name of college) to (whatever it is that you are doing) Paragraph 2 I am leaving with some sadness as I have really enjoyed my work here and I really appreciate the fact that (name of people) have showed faith in my abilities and encouraged me during my time here. Paragraph 3 Thanking you again for all that you have done for me, I remain, Yours sincerely, If you hope to work part time there, add a paragraph before paragraph 3 stating just that. good luck
- Keep it short and simple. Begin by saying that after a lot of thought you have decided to resign so you can focus on your studies. Say you've enjoyed working with everyone and appreciate the patience and guidance given to you. Then just sign off. Make sure you ask your supervisor, the big boss, the human resources person (depending on who you feel closest to, who speaks to you about exiting) if it will be all right to use them as a future reference.
- My friend is doing this very same thing. "After much thought, and after considering all alternatives, I have come to the conclusion that in order to devote my full attention to completing my studies at """College, I cannot continue my employment at XXX company. Therefore, please accept my resignation effective (date). I have learned so much during my employment here which will no doubt benefit me no matter where the future takes me. I have also made lifelong friends during my time here. Thank you for your leadership and support during the last (how long you were employed). May I use you as a reference for my studies and future employment opportunities? Thank you once again. It has been a very positive experience." Sign the letter Regards, XXXXXX
