How do you write a resignation letter for a grocery store?

I want to quit my job at a grocery store. I looked up on the internet how to write a resignation letter, and they seem too formal. Is a resignation letter necessary for quitting from a cashier job from a grocery store? i'm just wondering what is the best way to do this.
